Inhalt: Wir freuen uns, Sie zu einer special Festival Film Edition von CineMingle im Filmhaus Basel einzuladen! Erleben Sie einen einzigartigen Abend, an dem zwei Filmemacher jeweils einen Film präsentieren, der Teil der aktuellen oder vergangenen Festivalsaison ist. Dies ist eine wunderbare Gelegenheit, preisgekrönte Kurzfilme aus nächster Nähe zu erleben, die Schöpferinnen dahinter kennenzulernen und sich in entspannter und inspirierender Atmosphäre mit anderen Filmbegeisterten auszutauschen. Nach den Präsentationen sind Filmemacherinnen und Gäste eingeladen, die Gespräche fortzusetzen und den Abend gemeinsam an der Filmhaus-Bar ausklingen zu lassen. Der Eintritt ist frei, aber die Plätze sind begrenzt — wir bitten Sie daher, Ihr Ticket im Voraus zu reservieren. Pilot – Regie: Sonia Mackwani Pilot ist inspiriert von einer wahren Geschichte aus dem ländlichen Indien und beleuchtet die stille Krise der Selbstmorde unter Landwirten und deren verheerende Auswirkungen auf die zurückbleibenden Familien. In einem abgelegenen, orthodoxen Dorf weigert sich eine junge Witwe, ihre Trauer über den Verlust ihres Mannes die Zukunft ihres Sohnes bestimmen zu lassen. Entgegen Tradition und gesellschaftlicher Ächtung erlernt sie eine unerwartete Fähigkeit – das Fahrradfahren – um ihr Kind 20 Kilometer weit zur Schule zu bringen. Im Kern ist Pilot eine Ode an den Mut von Frauen, die Verzweiflung in Entschlossenheit verwandeln, und an die stille Kraft von Bildung, um Kreisläufe der Not zu durchbrechen. Als Initiative von Touching Lives Welfare Trust und in ProtoVillage, einer widerstandsfähigen Dorfgemeinschaft, gedreht, verbindet der Film Kunst und sozialen Einfluss und erzählt eine Geschichte, die die gemeinsame Menschlichkeit anspricht, Empathie weckt und ein tieferes Bewusstsein für die Herausforderungen ländlicher Gemeinschaften schafft. La femme et le TGV – Regie: Timo von Gunten / Produktion: Giacun Caduff Elise Lafontaine hat eine geheime Routine – jeden Morgen und Abend winkt sie seit vielen Jahren dem Expresszug, der an ihrem Haus vorbeifährt. Eines Tages findet sie einen Brief des Zugführers in ihrem Garten und ihr bisher einsames Leben wird auf den Kopf gestellt. Durch poetische und nachdenkliche Briefe entwickelt sich eine vielversprechende Korrespondenz zwischen den beiden anonymen Schreibenden, die ihre Welten miteinander teilen. Doch Elises Märchen endet abrupt, als die Bahnlinie dauerhaft auf eine kürzere Route nach Paris umgeleitet wird. Nicht bereit, auf ihre tägliche Freude zu verzichten, unternimmt Elise einen mutigen Ausbruch aus ihrer Komfortzone, um den Zugführer zu finden. LA FEMME ET LE TGV ist inspiriert von wahren Ereignissen und in der Hauptrolle mit Jane Birkin besetzt. Der Film erhielt breite Anerkennung und wurde für zahlreiche Film Festivals nominiert, darunter der Academy Award (Oscar) für den besten Live-Action-Kurzfilm bei den 89. Academy Awards 2017.

One day, she finds a letter from the train conductor in her garden and her lonely life is turned upside down. She engages in a promising correspondence through poetic and thoughtful letters where the two anonymous writers share their worlds with each other. But Elise’s fairytale is cut short when the train line permanently detours for a shorter route to Paris. Not willing to do without her daily delight, Elise prompts a daring escape from her comfort zone and sets out to find the train conductor. LA FEMME ET LE TGV is inspired by true events and stars actress Jane Birkin in the leading role. It received critical acclaim and was nominated for many industry awards including the Academy Award (Oscars) for Best Live Action Short Film at the 89th Academy Awards in 2017.
